Software Engineering:

During the planning of a game, the mechanic of the game, movement system for player(s) and enemies, etc. all seem very straight forward and perhaps to some extent simple to visualize. It isn't until you start the software engineering to plan out how the game will function that all these small ideas and systems begin to take shape and thus the scope of the project becomes realized. For this game, what seemed a simple system of card combat against a few different enemies in a 3D landscape turned into 47 different requirements that we would have to account for in order to meet all of our project requirements and implement the game mechanic we had in mind.
